about The Author

Meet the Mother Who Refused to Stay Silent.

Vicki Graves is an author whose writing emerges from a life deeply marked by love, loss, and healing. Born and residing in Roseburg, Oregon, Vicki spent many years as a Certified Nurse’s Aide before becoming an entrepreneur. Her work caring for dying patients opened her heart to spiritual exploration studying Reiki, energy healing, and kinesiology to help others heal both physically and emotionally.

Vicki’s journey as an author began after the loss of her mother in 2003. Guided by dreams and moments of reflection during daily walks, she felt a calling to write. This led to her first book, Share the Light, a spiritual and self-help work sharing true stories and insights intended to comfort and uplift readers “the type of book you would leave on a parlor table.”

A pivotal moment in Vicki’s life and writing came with the tragic murder of her son, Matthew, in 2018. The deep grief and PTSD that followed shaped her second book, Only Memories, written to support and speak to parents who have lost a child, whether to violence, illness, or other causes. In her words:

“Parents should not have to bury their children; it is not the norm. We may look the same and speak the same, but inside, we are forever changed.”

Besides writing, Vicki finds peace in her greenhouses filled with orchids and rare plants, enjoys cooking and baking, and loves to learn, especially in fields connected to healing and spirituality. She has a fondness for books about near-death experiences and “life after death,” which bring her comfort and a sense of closeness to her children who have passed.

Vicki often writes her manuscripts by hand before typing them a ritual that mirrors the reflective nature of her work. Currently, she is working on a new book, The Last Breath and Then Forever, honoring her daughter Tammy, who passed away in 2024 from complications related to Type 1 Diabetes. In this deeply personal project, Vicki will talk about belief, pain, and letting go, alongside self-help reflections and spiritual encounters.

Through her books and her story, Vicki Graves hopes her writing will bring comfort to those facing grief and remind them they are not alone.
